iPhone Production in India Set to Double by Foxconn This Year

Seeking to lessen its dependence on China for iPhone manufacturing, Apple has been expanding its assembly operations in other countries in recent years.

India has emerged as a significant location in this strategy, and a recent report from The Economic Times indicates that Foxconn, a key Apple supplier, intends to significantly increase its iPhone production within India.

The report anticipates Foxconn assembling 25 to 30 million iPhones in India by the close of this year, a substantial increase from the estimated 12 million units produced in the country last year, effectively more than doubling output. This expansion is primarily attributed to Foxconn's upcoming large-scale facility in Bengaluru, which is projected to be its second-largest iPhone assembly plant globally.

The report further notes that Foxconn has reportedly initiated trial production runs at this new site in recent months. Neither Apple nor Foxconn has offered official comments on these developments.
