The leaks gates for Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL aren't closing anything soon. Today, new leaked images and video provide a close-up for the Pixel 4 XL in black and white, with the white being similar to the “panda” Black & White Pixel 2 XL from 2017 and a new color called Coral which is similar to Orange.
A user with access to two Pixel 4 XL devices in both black and white, posted it on Reddit with the former being all black except for the white lock key.
The white Pixel 4 XL features a white glass panel, but a black frame and orange power button. This color scheme is similar to the “panda” Black & White Pixel 2 XL from 2017. The sides make for a very sharp contrast, especially when held from an angle.
One-shot in particular today shows how the shade-less, continuous rear is very shiny and reflective. These phones will likely be prone to fingerprint and smudge marks.
The “Welcome to your new Pixel” prompt in the Pixel Launcher suggests that the phones were already setup. Abstract shapes wallpapers are not identical between the two Pixels which suggests a live wallpaper that presumably responds to device movement and orientation.
A final shot today shows the Always-on Display and a close-up of the top sensor array. Like other leaks, it’s very straightforward and only the wide-angle front-facing camera is visible when viewed head-on. The Soli and face unlock sensors are quite hidden with Google wisely using a black front.
Also, the third color which is an Orange color called Coral has the black border as well around the edge of the device and the familiar upper right camera nodule. The video comes via a YouTube channel GadgetLeaks, that shared the original video over on the /r/GooglePixel subreddit. We still don’t know the name for this upcoming color, which has led us to our own speculation as to what this new color might be referred to.
You can see the device in a 240p footage which makes it hard to grasp much information:
Unfortunately, we don’t get to see this ‘coral-like’ color-matched or compared with the black and white models. Making it much harder to get a proper color reference.
We don’t get to see the display during the video clip, so it’s not actually clear if this is indeed a working Pixel 4 at all. It could simply be a rear panel. That said, this model looks to have a white-colored sleep-wake button. While the slightly deeper ‘orange’ of the Google logo is also a nice design touch.
Hopefully, won’t have much longer to wait to see the device in the flesh though.
