When Google showed us the demo of Android Nougat in I/O they said it will be available this fall. Well the time has come and it is releasing next month (August) courtesy of evleaks for confirming that. Now let's talk about Nexus 5.
First it was a yes, then a no. Finally Nexus 5 will not get the Android 7.0 Nougat update from Google. As you already know, Google promises to the Nexus 2 years of updates (and 3 patches), as they have been Lollipop, Marshmallow, and now it is a Nougat. Well, even though everything indicated that Android Nougat could go in his stable version for the Nexus 5 due to its great demand, it seems that finally we will be left without the update.
We have seen pieces of code for Nexus 5 months ago from Google which we assumed that maybe they are working on an Android version for the Nexus 5. However, Evan Blass aka evleaks confirmed that Android Nougat 7.0 will not be available for Nexus 5. The hardware of Nexus 5 is interesting, but perhaps goes better with Marshmallow than with Android Nougat, many of the updates screwed up mobile.
If you don't know what is Android Nougat. Android Nougat is Android 7.0, the new version of Android with more polished version of Marshmallow with new features such as improved Doze, Better Quick Settings and more.
However if you still want Android 7.0 on your Nexus 5, you’ll be able to have a Nougat, via Custom ROM once the sources is out. we Cannot overlook that you’ll be able to get Android Nougat for Nexus 5 via ROM just like Marshmallow on the Nexus 4. Although it is possible that we may have to wait a few months, perhaps until November.
So do not worry, it is normal that some Nexus have to die to make way for the new.
However, with Marshmallow you will continue to work great to your Nexus 5. And if you prefer, you can buy a new Nexus if you’re a big fan of Pure Android and want to try Android Nougat, by beta you already have it available in the past. What do you think of all this? Do you have Nexus 5 and want Nougat?
