Android 6.0.1 Coming Today on Nexus Devices With a Bunch of New Emoji

Last week, Google told us that they will be releasing a new OS update next week which is today. So, today Google is unleashing Android 6.0.1, bringing along with it more than 200 new emoji to Nexus users.

The new emoji — a long-awaited update on the Android side of things, as our iOS-wielding cousins have been enjoying them for some time now — first were teased last week by Google's Hiroshi Lockheimer.

Except for the the new and updated emoji, the update doesn’t bring much. Ars Technica got a hold of it and said that one of the noteworthy changes is a navigation button layout tweak on tablets, where the recent apps button moves to the far bottom right corner, while the back and home buttons slide over to the left so that you can use your thumbs for that.

Also this feature we not present in the Android 6.0 but it was on 5.1 which was Lollipop, Google added this last option back as you can see in the picture below.

The update will rollout this week on Nexus phones. Since this is Android 6.0.1, that should include the Nexus 5, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6, Nexus 6P, Nexus 7 (2013), Nexus 9, and Nexus Player. As those updates arrive, we’ll be sure to share the news.
