When Android 4.1 Jelly Bean was first detailed, notification actions were one of the best new features. Depending on the app, certain actions could be performed right from the notification window, without ever having to open the app. Surprisingly, the stock Gmail was missing notification actions up until an update released today.
For users on Android 4.1 or above, the official Gmail client now allows the ability to reply and archive messages right from the notification window. While it may seem small, this is a long awaited update. The fact that it’s taken this long is shocking, but we suppose the old saying better late than never applies here.
Also included in the update is performance enhancements all the way back to Android 2.2 and up, and faster searching for users on 4.0 and up. To download the update, check Google Play on your device now.
